June 2008 I went to Czech Republic for the first time in my life. I didn´t know anything about the country, other than them being more advanced than us in science and therefor better (and cheaper) at laser surgery.... so my eyes were fixed, I could finally see well without glasses and contact lenses, I got a glimpse of a few tourist attractions, and that was it. End of story...
Until... I arrived back again June of this year 2012 with a group of youth from our church (bedehuskirken.no), Imi and a church from Ålgård. I had no specific hopes or expectations, but for the first time in a long time my heart felt something for a nation. In just a week I started to really like these people we met and ministered to, and I got fascinated with their stories, hearts and their history.
As soon as I got home, I went on to google them, like I often do when I´m fascinated with something, and found out so much more about this nation that is believed to be the most atheistic country in Europe, and to have the most difficult language to learn. So I went back, kind of on a whim, this time on a roadtrip with a group of friends, in the middle of August, for another mission week.
Since then I´ve been thinking quite a bit about what I experienced and what I saw, and I know for sure that I´ll be going back again. Hopefully soon!
Water fight with the youth, which I (as an adult) of course tried to stay out of...
Most of my hysterically funny team, and amazing Czech people that I have come to really respect.
We had so much fun together!! Here at the IMPULS conference in the weekend!
One day we had a soccer tournament and Zumba party. Most of the days we traveled to schools, taught about Norway, and invited people to different events where we could get to know them better and share our Faith.
The roadtrip in August was amazing!! I wish I had more pictures of all the fun loving people, and all we did. This week we spent about 3 days driving 3 loaded cars with Kristian Lande´s stuff, then some events with a great team we met in Czech Republic, and just getting to know lots of people.
What a crew and what a great time together.
